Christmas treeToday is my last day in the office until the New Year so I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers, all of our staff and anyone else who reads this blog a very merry Christmas! I also want to give some recognition to all those staff who continue to work their socks off over the Christmas period (including Christmas day at some airport locations), a period which is one of our most intensely busiest of the year.

On a separate Christmas-related note (and in demonstration of how superbly co-ordinated the blog team is), we have managed to plan our holiday so that we are all off over Christmas at the same time. To keep the blog going in the meantime I have, rather foolishly, agreed to keep writing new posts and responding to comments during the Christmas week. Please bear with me as I may not always be able to answer your question. However, I promise to do the best I can and if I need to defer it I’ll get a full answer to you when I am back in the office.

So please keep in touch over the Christmas period, read any blog post I decide to indulge myself in writing and keep your thoughts and feedback coming in, particularly with regards to Select Series and, my favourite, “Strange and unusual driving laws”!

    Oh dear! Yet another chaotic experience at your Munich Airport bureau! No you can’t have an estate car even if you have booked one, you have to make do with a small MPV oh and by the way you have to pay for winter tyres even though you did not ask for them or need them. We’ll supply you with ski racks but they are so badly damaged that they’ll scratch the car’s roof then we’ll make you pay for the damage. When you return the car with a full tank we’ll charge you a refuelling fee and we’ll try to wriggle out of accepting a 35 Euro discount voucher which we gave you as compensation for the last time we messed up your reservation.

    That’s it no more, we’re off to see your competitors.

    Thanks for showing an interest but really the catalogue of cock ups we have suffered at Munich Airport Avis leave us weak! It’s just the amount of time we have to spend arguing our case first with the staff there, then with the UK based customer services who frankly just tell us that they have little control over Avis in Germany and the best they can do is give us a 35 Euro dscount voucher (Which Avis Munich then try to refuse!) Is there really any point in us bothering?

    Have spent over year collecting Tesco vouchers towards car hire this summer. Extremely annoyed to discover the deal stops before the summer

    Hi Philippa, unfortunately Tesco and Avis mutually agreed to part company but there is a 6 month leeway for Clubcard members to redeem their points with us. As you probably know this partnership is only applicable to those rentals that are returned by the 31st of May. However, I do believe that Tesco are currently looking for an alternative car hire partner who you can redeem your points with. Obviously we would be very disappointed to lose your business though!

    Sent my Tesco Clubcard vouchers into Hayes for processing, received to you on the 14th March and still waiting for my voucher. I fly out on Saturday. Please help. I have been told there was a mail strike. Is this true?

    Hi Darren, I apologise for the delay you have had with this voucher. I have just spoken to our customer support team who have informed me that they have emailed the voucher directly to the location you are renting from so this has been taken care of. They will be in touch directly to confirm.
