I’ve just read that, in a survey by Tripadvisor, London has been voted the best European city to visit by international travellers. I love London so the results certainly won’t be getting any argument from me! The survey also included a number of other ‘best’ categories. I have picked out those categories (and the winners) that you might find useful in choosing a future city break:

European City with the Best Cuisine:
1. Paris, 2. Rome, 3. Florence

European City with the Best Shopping:
1. Paris, 2. London, 3. Rome

European City with the Best Night Life:
1. London, 2. Amsterdam, 3. Paris

European City with the Best Public Parks:
1. London, 2. Paris, 3. Barcelona

Most Romantic European City:
1. Paris, 2. Venice, 3. Rome

So, what do you think? Do you agree or disagree with the cities on these lists? And do you have a list of your own?

At least Paris is still the most romantic city with the best cuisine!

yes, and people really make you feel at home ..

The usual suspects, can’t deny that London has the best parks and is the most exciting city, most cosmopolitan and has the most variety of things to do. Can’t understand how Paris comes best for shopping, designer clothes if you’re super rich maybe, disappointing otherwise.

Come on though people, be more original. Is Paris really the most romantic – expensive, dirty and rude (though undeniably beautiful), Venice and Rome should come before. So many great cities in Eastern Europe to explore too. Budapest should be there.

Thanks for your input Anne May. I absolutely love London. Despite living so close to the city I never get bored of it!

I think a lot of people would agree with you on Eastern Europe. To be honest I’ve only been to Prague (another beautiful city) but Dubrovnik has been recommended to me on a couple of occasions.

European City with the Best Night Life? London ? What ?
How is Amsterdam not number one?
